India is latching cornets with Sri Lanka in the first Test of the three-match series in Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium, Mohali. Captain Rohit Sharma has won the toss and chose to bat first.
All eyes are on Rohit Sharma as he walks on the field to guide his first Test after becoming full-time captain of Team India.
“We are going to bat first. Similar Indian conditions, so it’s important for us to put runs on the board and take it from there. It is a huge honor to be captaining India and be part of the list. It is something I never dreamt of. It has been quite buzzing. We know it is a special occasion. Not many people go on to play 100 Tests, and Virat has been looking forward to this game. We are playing three spinners and two-seamers,” said Rohit Sharma after winning the toss.
After neat cleaning the T20I series against the guests, India will eye on easing the despairs of loss against South Africa before this year.
“We wanted to bat first as well. We are playing three seamers, but it is a good wicket to bat on. We have played 300 Tests but we never won in India. We have a good team, with the senior and junior combinations and we are prepared. We are going in with three seamers and two spinners,” said Dimuth Karunaratne, head of Sri Lanka.
This Mohali Test will be effective and unique in more than one way as Indian players are playing without their veteran cricketers Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara. The younger boys have big shoes to fill as they take on Sri Lanka in Mohali.
Virat Kohli has the chance to rob the rumble as he plays his 100th Test, evolving the 12th Indian cricketer to complete this accomplishment, and the player will like to make this moment count.
