On Monday evening, While a live tournament of kabaddi was going on in Jalandhar’s Malian Khurd, someone shot kabaddi player Sandeep Nangal Ambian, police said.
According to the Indian Express report, the happening took place between 6:15 pm to 6:30 pm. Ambien came ahead with his team to experience a match that was believed to start in the evening.
“Kabbadi player Sandeep Nangal was shot dead by unidentified people in Mallian. Four people arrived in a car and shot him during an ongoing match. FIR has been registered, we are investigating. Further details can be given after post mortem,” ANI quoted Satinder Singh, SSP Jalandhar Police, as saying.
According to information, when Sandeep came out of the tournament area, anonymous attackers opened fire on him, leaving him dead on the site.
There are also reports that, Excluding him, a teenage boy was also injured but he is out of danger.
Sandeep was one of the top five Kabaddi players in the world. He was director of the Major Kabaddi League Federation. Except this, he portrayed the United Kingdom team as captain in the different Kabaddi World Cup tournaments.
According to police, a personal vendetta or professional covetousness could be the reason behind the happening.
Sandeep left his parents, wife, and two sons behind.
