The FIFA World Cup is the most famous association football tournament in the world. In this tournament, the best nations across the world compete with each other.
Till now, only eight teams have come out champions in 21 previous editions of the FIFA World Cup, with six of them doing so multiple times.
Here’s a look at five teams with the most match wins in the FIFA World Cup:
France (two-time winners) – 34 matches won
France has won two FIFA World Cup titles. In the 2018 edition of the competition, Les Bleus joined Uruguay and Argentina in a victory.
To win the second World Cup they beat first-time finalists Croatia 4-2, exactly twenty years after winning their first. They have made 15 appearances in the competition.
Argentina (two-time winners) – 43 matches won
Argentina is also a two-time winner of the FIFA World Cup, in 1978 and 1986.
La Albiceleste has played in 17 previous editions of the World Cup. In the first edition of the competition, they were runner-up to Uruguay.
From the 1970 edition of the competition, Argentina has been FIFA World Cup regulars. When they made their last appearance in 2018, they won only one of their four games.
Argentina and Brazil are the two South American teams to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Italy (four-time winners) – 45 matches won
Italy has won FIFA at least four times. They have missed only three previous editions of the World Cup, the last time they came to the competition was in 2018.
The three-time winners have an impressive record at the World Cup. Italy has in the 2006 edition after that they lost in 2010 but four years later they won in 2014.
Germany (four-time winners) – 67 matches won
The most successful team in FIFA World Cup history is Germany. Die Mannschaft is the second team to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, joining hosts Qatar.
Germany is one of only two teams to play over 100 games at the World Cup finals, except in 1938, Germany never returned without a win from the competition.
They have won at least five games in three succeeding editions of the competition, including their successful campaign in 2014. However, they failed at the last edition of the competition.
Brazil (five-time winners) – 73 matches won
Brazil is another most successful team in FIFA World Cup history. It is the only team to feature in all previous 21 editions of the competition. They are the earliest teams to book their place in the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Brazil has also featured in over 100 games at the FIFA World Cup. Except in 1934,
Selecao never went winless from the competition. Brazil is the only nation to score over 200 and admit over 100 goals in the competition.
CONCLUSION
These are the best five countries that have created history in the FIFA World Cup. Still, we have to sit back and see what result will come up for the 2022 edition of the game. It will be more interesting to see the match this time.
