This year in 2022, the Winter Olympics are scheduled to be held in Beijing. From 4th February to 20th February 2022 and the Paralympics are scheduled to take place from 4th March 4 to 13th March 2022.

The capital of China is Beijing, and its population is over 20 million. One of the largest cities in the world. It is the first city ever to host both the summer and winter Olympic Games.

There are 13 venues, which are split between the zones of Beijing, Zhangjiakou, and Yanqing. These will be used during the 17 days of the Games. A new venue has been built in Beijing, the National Speed Skating Oval and old ones are being renovated for the Games.

There are 109 events going to be held, in 15 regulations across seven sports: biathlon, bobsleigh, curling, ice hockey, luge, skating, and skiing.

Because there is not enough snow then all the events will be held in artificial snow.

Under Covid-19 protocols, the IOC announced that the Games will be held in a bubble from January 23 until the end of the Winter Paralympics on March 13.

They will cover all stadiums and competition venues, as well as accommodations, catering, and the opening and closing ceremonies. Audiences will be allowed only if they live in China.

The Olympic torch, which is also known as “Flying,” has a similar design to the 2008 torch, the only difference is it has a curled ribbon design.

The Games are a new mixed men’s and women’s team event in freestyle skiing, short-track speed skating, snowboarding, and ski jumping.

From India, Alpine skier Arif Mohammed Khan has become the first Indian athlete to qualify for two different events in the winter Olympics.
